  • Died:
  • August 18, 2004 in Columbus, OH. Survived by wife and two young daughters, Anna & Susan.

Alan was a sculptor, soccer player, student of the Bible, a true gentleman, all around handyman and a devoted family man. He adored his girls.

Alan was loved and respected by all. He was creative in every sense of the word. He could fix anything at home including his cars and motorcycle.

Al was an outstanding athlete, playing soccer in high school, college and professionally in the American Soccer League with the Cleveland Cobras. Alan's high school soccer community established an award in his honor because of his impact and example in the community, on and off the field. Al gave his best most notably to those from whom he had nothing to gain. He was always available to lend a hand to the underdog and the outcast.

Al found his niche in sculpting. He sculpted granite, marble, soapstone and oil-based clay. He also enjoyed fabricating and assembling sculptures in mixed media. A commercial sculptor for over a dozen years, Al finally ventured out professionally with his original artwork immediately prior, as it turned out, to being diagnosed with an inoperable cancerous brain tumor. He was in his prime and had been extremely fit and healthy.

Alan was a loving father, so proud of his dear daughters. Warrior Heart Sculptures is a lasting legacy to a rare man. Proceeds donated to cancer research at OSUMC and disabled artists through non-profit foundation.
